How COUPLES THERAPY WORKS
My approach to couples therapy is primarily based on the Gottman Method. Initially, I meet with both partners together, followed by individual sessions with each to gather family history, personal insights, and relationship goals. Couples then attend weekly sessions focused on their shared objectives.
I strive to maintain compassion and understanding for each partner, while also identifying and addressing patterns that may be detrimental to the relationship. During sessions, I incorporate various exercises and typically provide suggestions for couples to work on between meetings.
The ultimate goal is to gradually reduce the frequency of sessions from weekly to bi-weekly, and eventually to monthly, as progress is made.
My goals as your therapist are to:
